React Native Apps That Share Code With Your Web App

Senior React Native engineers directing AI coding agents to build Expo apps with shared TypeScript, OTA updates and AI features - production MVP in 7 days, then weekly releases.

Duration: 7 days to production MVP Team: 1-3 Senior React Native Engineers + AI coding agents

You might be experiencing...

Your web app is in TypeScript but your mobile app is a separate world with duplicated logic
Every small fix waits days for App Store and Google Play review
Native build setup, signing and certificates eat a week before any feature work starts
You need AI features on mobile without leaking API keys or blowing up latency

NomadX is an AI-native software studio inside a Dubai AI agents consultancy. As a React Native app development company in Dubai, we pair senior engineers with AI coding agents like Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, work from a written spec, and ship a production MVP in 7 days. This page covers React Native and Expo; the software development hub covers every stack we build in.

When should you choose React Native for your app?

Choose React Native when your team already writes TypeScript and React, especially if you have or plan a Next.js web app. You get native iOS and Android apps, one language across web and mobile, a huge hiring pool, and over-the-air updates for JavaScript fixes. It is a strong fit for SaaS companion apps, marketplaces, fintech and internal tools.

When is React Native not the best pick? If you want pixel-identical, heavily custom UI and do not need to share code with a React web app, Flutter is often the cleaner choice. Games, heavy 3D and complex real-time graphics are usually better native. We compare the options in Flutter vs React Native vs Kotlin Multiplatform, and we make the decision on Day 1, in writing.

What does our React Native reference architecture look like?

Our default React Native architecture is an Expo app with Expo Router inside a Turborepo or pnpm monorepo, next to your Next.js web app. A shared TypeScript package holds types, Zod schemas, API clients and business rules, so web and mobile stay in sync by construction.

What a typical build includes:

  • Expo and the New Architecture: current Expo SDKs run only on the React Native New Architecture, which gives faster native calls and modern React features. Custom native code goes in through config plugins and development builds.
  • Data layer: TanStack Query for server state, Zustand for local state, and typed API clients generated from your OpenAPI spec or shared with a tRPC backend.
  • Identity: email, phone OTP, Apple and Google sign-in, and UAE Pass where government-linked identity matters.
  • Arabic RTL: React Native’s I18nManager plus RTL-aware styles and tested layouts for Arabic users.
  • Data residency: where PDPL applies, backends in Azure UAE North or AWS me-central-1.

How do EAS builds and OTA updates speed up releases?

EAS Build runs iOS and Android builds in the cloud with managed signing credentials, so nobody fights Xcode certificates on a laptop. EAS Submit pushes builds to App Store Connect and Google Play. EAS Update then delivers JavaScript and asset changes over the air to installed apps.

In practice that means:

  • Preview builds on real phones from Day 2-3, without anyone installing a native toolchain.
  • Separate channels for staging and production, so testers see changes before users do.
  • Urgent JavaScript bug fixes reach users in minutes instead of waiting for store review.

Store rules still apply: OTA updates are for fixes and improvements that do not change the app’s core purpose, and native code changes still need a full build. We set the policy for what goes OTA and what goes through review in the runbook.

How do AI coding agents speed up React Native development?

React Native suits AI-native development well because TypeScript gives agents and engineers a strong, shared contract. Agents generate screens, hooks, API clients and tests from the spec, and the type checker flags anything inconsistent across web and mobile at once. Engineers spend their time on UX, architecture and edge cases.

Where agents save the most time:

  • Building screens and components from the design system, including RTL variants.
  • Writing shared Zod schemas and API clients once, used by both Next.js and the app.
  • Generating Jest and React Native Testing Library tests plus Maestro end-to-end flows in parallel with features.
  • Producing EAS config, CI workflows and store metadata drafts.

Senior engineers review architecture, performance on mid-range Android devices, native module choices and every merge. That review layer is what makes it AI-native engineering rather than vibe coding, and it is how we ship an MVP in 7 days.

How do you build AI features into a React Native app?

We build AI features in React Native by streaming model responses from your backend, typically with the Vercel AI SDK or provider SDKs on the server and a streaming chat UI in the app. API keys and system prompts never ship inside the app binary, and the same backend endpoint serves your web app too.

Common features we ship:

  • Assistant and chat screens with streaming responses and tool calls into your own APIs.
  • Photo and document capture with structured extraction into forms.
  • Voice input with transcription, then summarisation or search.
  • Arabic and English smart search, translation and summaries.

For privacy-sensitive or offline features, we evaluate on-device models and platform AI APIs on your actual target devices before committing, since support varies by device and OS version. Larger AI products go through our LLM app development service.

What does a 7-day React Native MVP look like?

A typical 7-day React Native build is a focused app: onboarding and auth, one core workflow, payments, push notifications and an AI feature, sharing a TypeScript package with your web app. The cadence is the same on every stack:

  • Day 1 - Spec & architecture: written spec, user flows, data model, stack choice.
  • Day 2-3 - Clickable prototype: a shareable preview URL plus EAS preview builds on real phones.
  • Day 4-6 - Build & test: auth, payments, integrations and AI features, with automated tests on every change.
  • Day 7 - Production launch: CI/CD, OTA channels, monitoring, error tracking and store submission. We iterate weekly after.

What is not 7 days? Super-apps, apps with heavy custom native modules, or a migration of a large legacy React Native codebase to the New Architecture. Those are staged in weekly increments. Our mobile app development service covers the full scope.

Should you hire React Native developers or use a studio?

Hire in-house when mobile is a long-term core product with a steady roadmap. Use a React Native development studio when you need the first version in users’ hands fast, or a senior team to set up the monorepo, EAS pipeline and testing patterns your hires will inherit.

Most clients start with us for the MVP and early weekly releases, then hand over or keep a lighter retainer. You own the code, Expo account, store accounts and signing credentials from day one, so there is no lock-in. Tell us what you are building and we will come back with a Day 1 spec outline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you build a React Native app in 7 days?

Yes, for a focused MVP. A React Native MVP on Expo with auth, a core workflow, payments, push notifications and an AI feature fits the 7-day cadence. Store review time is outside our control, so we start TestFlight and Play internal testing early and submit on Day 7.

Why do you use Expo instead of bare React Native?

Expo is now the recommended way to start React Native apps. It gives you file-based routing, a large set of maintained native modules, cloud builds and OTA updates, while still allowing custom native code through config plugins and development builds. It removes a week of setup.

What are OTA updates and are they allowed by the stores?

Over-the-air updates with EAS Update push new JavaScript and assets to installed apps without a store release. Apple and Google allow this for bug fixes and improvements that do not change the app's core purpose. Native code changes still need a normal store build.

Can the app share code with our Next.js website?

Yes, and it is the main reason to pick React Native. We set up a monorepo where Next.js and React Native share TypeScript: types, Zod schemas, API clients, business rules and often hooks. UI components are usually platform-specific, but the logic is written once.

How do you add AI features to a React Native app?

We stream responses from your backend using the Vercel AI SDK or provider SDKs, so API keys never ship in the app binary. Chat, structured extraction, tool calling and voice input all work well. For privacy-sensitive features we evaluate on-device models on your target devices.

Is React Native fast enough in 2026?

For most apps, yes. The React Native New Architecture is now the default and only option in current Expo SDKs, with faster native module calls and concurrent rendering. Heavy graphics, games or complex animations may still be better in native code or Flutter.

Flutter or React Native: which should we pick?

Pick React Native if your team writes TypeScript and you want to share code with a web app. Pick Flutter if you want pixel-identical custom UI and a single Dart codebase across mobile and web. We make the call on Day 1, in writing.
